There are many reasons why people should care about their skin. For starters, it is the largest organ of your body, and it needs to be properly taken care of in order for you to feel healthy and look youthful. It also impacts how others view you - after all, we live in a society that judges people based on their appearance (unfortunately)! With this in mind, I'm sure you can understand why having a good skin care routine is so important. But what exactly does that entail? Well, let's get into it!
The first step in any beauty routine is to cleanse your face. This removes all the dirt, oil and makeup that has built up over the course of the day. There are many different types of cleansers available, so it's important to find one that suits your individual needs. If you have oily skin, for example, you'll want a cleanser that is specifically designed to combat oiliness. Other skin concerns have their own challenge as well, so be sure to understand your skin type when choosing a cleanser.
There are also different ways to cleanse your face - some people prefer to use a cloth or sponge, while others simply use their hands. I personally like to use my Olay Regenerist Face Cleansing Device, which helps remove all traces of makeup and leaves my skin feeling incredibly smooth. Remember, clean skin is happy skin!
No matter how you choose to cleanse your face, be sure to do it gently and avoid scrubbing too hard, as this can cause irritation. It doesn't hurt to ensure you are using a gentle cleanser as well. You should also try and be sure to practice good cleansing in the morning and night!
My personal favorite cleanser is the Vitamin C Ester Citrus Brightening Cleanser by Perricone MD. It's gentle enough to avoid drying, yet a powerful enough facial cleanser to leave a very refreshing clean feeling. Toners are often overlooked, but they are an essential part of any skin care routine. Toners help to remove any leftover traces of cleanser and/or dead skin cells, as well as restore the pH balance of your skin. This is important because when the pH balance is off, it can cause your skin to become dry, oily or irritated. For best results, gently pat dry your face before using your toner and apply with a cotton pad (if you don't have access to a cotton pad, a washcloth can work ass well).
I personally like to use the Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner, which helps to remove any traces of dirt, dead cells or makeup without drying out my skin. It's also very refreshing and leaves my face feeling clean and invigorated.

Serums are silky liquids that contain a high concentration of beautifying ingredients. They're designed to deliver these skin-loving benefits either into or deeper underneath the skin's protective barrier, allowing them to work their magic from within. Active ingredients such as antioxidants and peptides can be found in serums, which is why they play an important role in any good anti aging routine!
A good skincare routine typically has a vitamin c serum, an antioxidant serum and/or alpha hydroxy acids (like glycolic acid). These are all ingredients that help to even skin tone, reduce fine lines & wrinkles and helps to boost collagen production.
The Jan Marini Age Intervention® Peptide Extreme serum is my preference, because it includes peptides that assist in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also has a light texture that absorbs quickly and leaves no residue behind; there's nothing worse to me than the feeling of a thick, oily serum on my face. Just a few drops is all you need for one of the best (in my humble opinion) anti-aging serums on the market!
Other great serums I've used before include collagen and elastin production-inducing ingredients that help with increasing skin cell turnover. For dark spots, a vitamin c serum can be an amazing addition to help lighten and even your skin. These (and others) can be found at our other review pages!

Eye creams are designed to help revitalize the under eye area by reducing dark circles and puffiness. Although there is no miracle cream that will make you look like you've slept for twelve hours, they can certainly improve your appearance! Besides looking tired all of the time, dark circles may also be caused by genetics or allergies. If this sounds familiar to you, make sure you check out the Burt's Bees Truly Glowing Gel Eye Cream which has helped so many people reduce their "raccoon-eyes" over time.
Many popular eye creams include caffeine, which can help to constrict blood vessels and reduce puffiness. The eye cream I use includes this beneficial ingredient, as well as peptides that work to improve the overall appearance of my skin. You can compare other eye creams by clicking the link below:
A daily moisturizer is pivotal to your skin's overall health. Moisturizing helps to prevent dryness and can also help to reduce the appearance of fine lines over time. Face moisturizers, body lotions and hand creams can all play an important role in caring for your largest organ. Besides just applying it every day, I also like to use it before applying self-tanner.
Moisturizing is important for many reasons, especially when using skin care products that may be too harsh or drying on the skin. Moisturizers act as a barrier between your skin and these types of ingredients, which can help reduce any potential side effects (such as redness, dryness or irritation). When you're looking for a good moisturizer, it's important to find one that is suited to your skin type.
The DEWY Skin Cream Replenishing & Plumping Moisturizer by Tatcha is my favorite because it contains hyaluronic acid which helps to keep my skin hydrated all day long. It also has a light, non-greasy texture that is easily absorbed into my skin. This same moisturizer has helped me personally achieve smoother skin than i ever have before!
Other great moisturizers I've used before include shea butter and jojoba oil extracts which help to nourish the skin while adding moisture. You can compare other moisturizers by clicking on the link below:

Facial oils have an array of benefits including promoting healthy skin, reducing any redness and even helping to improve your overall complexion. If you're looking for a product that can do it all, face oil is the way to go! Even acne-prone skin types will benefit from using this type of natural ingredient; adding them into your daily skin care routine will give you great results!
Note: Only apply face oil to your skin after moisturizing. Applying it beforehand can cause pilling and clumping, which is not attractive or beneficial for the overall appearance of your face. I like using the e.l.f. All the Feels Facial Oil serum because it has an easy-to-use dropper system that dispenses just the right amount needed.
Other great facial oils I've used before include rosehip oil which is rich in essential fatty acids and helps to nourish, as well as evening primrose seed extracts that help reduce redness over time. You can compare other face oil products by clicking on the link below:
Last but not least, sunscreen should be a part of your daily skin care routine no matter what time of year it is! Applying SPF Broad Spectrum SPF Sunscreen every day helps to protect you from the sun's harmful rays which can cause premature aging, dark spots and even cancer. Let's be perfectly clear here: there are very few things that are as harmful for your skin than UV rays NO MATTER WHAT SEASON IT IS.
I like using Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 sunscreen because it is water resistant and contains ingredients that help to nourish dry skin.
Again, sunscreen is one of the most important steps in your daily beauty routine! Even if you prefer wearing makeup on a regular basis, putting it over top of SPF can actually make it less effective (which defeats the entire purpose). Make sure you apply sunscreen first, then wait 20 minutes before applying your makeup.
Other great sunscreens I've used include SPF 30 sunscreen that contains aloe vera leaf juice to soothe dry skin and protect it from burning under the hot summer sun. You can compare other sun screens by clicking on the link below:
There you have it, the essential seven steps to a beautiful and healthy complexion! To recap, lets review:
I highly recommend following this routine every day for best results (morning and night). Remember, a nighttime routine is very important to you overall skin care regimen. Special night creams are available, and a good night cream is no joke: it can be one of the most effective ways to nourish and absorb important ingredients because it can theoretically stay on your face all night. It may be time-consuming, but trust me-it works! If you have any questions about any of these products or tips, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Acne treatment can be tricky, as there are many different root causes of it: from hormonal to bad hygiene and even a microbiome imbalance, it can take a while to diagnose the problem and send those pimples packing! If you're not sure about what to do on your skin care routine, it is best to contact skin care experts such as dermatologists, cosmetologists, or aestheticians that are local and can see your skin first-hand.
That being said, there are many proven tips, tricks and active ingredients you can try out at home. Salicylic acid and Benzoyl Peroxide are proven active ingredients that kill acne causing bacteria.
One of the most popular Beta Hydroxy Acids, salicylic acid is best for blackheads because it removes excess oil from your pores and dries them out. This can however lead to dry skin for those with a sensitivity.
Benzoyl Peroxide is widely considered the most powerful acne-fighting ingredient without a prescription. It is even more drying than salicylic acid and usually requires a powerful moisturizer as aftercare (especially with delicate skin). It is even used in some products for acne spot treatments.
There are four main skin types: oily, dry, combination and sensitive. This becomes slightly more challenging when you take lighter and darker skin tones into consideration. Knowing your skin type is important because it will help you to choose the right products for your individual complexion and take care of specific concerns! For example, people with combination skin will want a moisturizer that has acne-fighting ingredients.
Oily skin can be caused by a number of factors, such as genetics or even your menstrual cycle. This type of skin is shinier than others and tends to clog pores more easily. If you have this, look for products that contain tea tree oil which helps to control excess sebum production and reduce the appearance of shine throughout the day.
Sensitive skin is often characterized by a feeling of tightness or discomfort after using certain products, and can be caused by environmental factors such as sun exposure, pollution or even stress. If you have this, look for products that contain natural ingredients like chamomile which help to soothe and calm the skin.
Layers are important because they allow for more control over how much product you need to use. Start with your thinnest layer, (which should be the lightest in terms of texture and consistency), then build up layers based on what skin types you have. For example, if you have oily or combination skin it is very likely that adding too many products will clog pores which can lead to breakouts; therefore, lighter products often work best!
A moisturizer is a product that hydrates and nourishes the skin, while a sunscreen protects it from the sun's harmful UV rays. Sunscreens often contain ingredients like titanium dioxide or zinc oxide which help to physically block the sun's rays, whereas moisturizers are typically formulated with ingredients like hyaluronic acid which help to hydrate and plump the skin.
Yes! Even on cloudy days or in the winter months you need to wear sunscreen-it simply does not provide adequate protection against UV radiation. Sunscreen should be the last step in your skincare routine and you should reapply it every two hours, or after swimming or sweating. Besides its' beautifying and anti-aging properties, it has also been proven to dramatically reduce the risk of skin cancer.
